This wine is the perfect companion to grilled meat, game dishes, and fish, enhancing their flavors in a unique way.
The origins of the Adega de Pegões Winery date back to when landowner and beer magnate José Rovisco Pais donated his estates to the public hospitals of Lisbon. The government used these lands for a large-scale colonization project, distributing the land to thousands of agricultural workers. At the same time, 2900 hectares of vineyards were planted. On March 7, 1958, a cooperative was established to provide the settlers ("Colonos") with technical and logistical support.
A complex bouquet reminiscent of red berries and jam. On the palate, the wine is robust, with a balanced structure and well-integrated tannins. The finish is long-lasting and intense.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by an additional four months of refinement in bottles.
The Setúbal Peninsula, where our wines are crafted, boasts a climate with optimal conditions. The region features pozolithic and sandy soils that are rich in water. The climate is influenced by the Mediterranean as well as the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
