This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meat, game dishes, and fish, enhancing their flavors in a unique way.
The history of the Adega de Pegões Winery began when landowner and beer magnate José Rovisco Pais donated his estates to Lisbon’s public hospitals. The government used these lands for a large-scale colonization project, distributing land to thousands of agricultural workers and planting 2900 hectares of vineyards. On March 7, 1958, a cooperative was established to provide the settlers ("Colonos") with technical and logistical support.
A complex bouquet that combines the typical floral notes of the grape variety with a well-integrated oak character. On the palate, the wine is robust, with a solid structure and well-balanced tannins. The finish is intense and long-lasting.
The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks under strictly controlled temperatures. The wine is then aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels, followed by an additional four months of refinement in bottles.
Our wines are crafted on the Setúbal Peninsula, which provides ideal climatic conditions. This region is characterized by pozolithic and sandy soils with high water retention capacity. The climate is shaped by Mediterranean influences and the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
