Tradition, enjoyment, and innovation are core values of the Mathier winery's philosophy. The Ambassadeur Fumé Gros Rhin de Chamoson is an outstanding example of how the Winemaker of the Decade brings these principles to life in every glass. The innovative vinification process makes this wine special. The result is an exquisite, complex white wine that represents the fourth element of the winery's philosophy: unique enjoyment.
A wine of remarkable complexity. The freshness, combined with an unusual tannic note for a white wine, and the vanilla tones from barrel aging, complement each other beautifully. The bouquet of the Ambassadeur Fumé is fruit-forward with a subtle hint of wood. It impresses with its long, intense finish. The oak barrel aging and tannins give it great aging potential.
The Ambassadeur Fumé undergoes a cold maceration on the must, extracting valuable aromas and structure from the grape skins before fermentation begins. It is then pressed, fermented in new barrels, and aged on the lees. The wine reaches its optimal maturity after six to nine months of aging in oak barrels.
Cultivated in Chamoson on rocky soils that store the autumn sun's warmth in Valais, releasing it back to the vines as valuable heat.
