Dishes with dark meats or game, flavorful hard cheeses, and well-aged soft cheeses pair perfectly with this wine. Highly recommended: venison stew with cranberries or a well-aged Brie de Meaux.
Around 1300, a descendant of Knight Heinrich von Heidegg began planting vines on the sunny, steep slopes surrounding the castle. Over the centuries, Heidegg experienced both glorious eras and challenging periods. Nevertheless, the castle first became the Seetal Wine Castle and later one of the most prestigious wine locations in the canton of Lucerne.
Today, the management of the Heidegg Winery continues the legacy of Josef Zemp. The experienced and respected vineyard master of the State Winery left a significant mark on the castle hill's viticulture, turning it into a model estate for the Lucerne region.
Deep ruby red in the glass. Dominant cherry fruit, complemented by delicate wood notes. Robust tannins provide balance on the palate, leading to a refined and elegant finish. A harmonious wine that reflects the quality of an excellent vintage.
Aged in barrique.
