The Heinrich winery in Burgenland strives to create wines that authentically reflect their origin and terroir. This is achieved through the cultivation of vibrant soils and a biodynamically managed ecosystem since 2006. The focus lies on balancing nature and time: minimal intervention in the cellar, spontaneous fermentation, long aging on lees in used wooden barrels, and the development of unique aromatic profiles. The goal is to craft authentic, characterful wines that embody the diversity of nature.
Red-fruited, spicy, and floral, this wine is youthful, juicy, powerful, fresh, and invigorating. Yet beneath its lively character lies impressive depth, substance, density, and vitality – all crowned by a distinctly salty-mineral finish.
The grapes are hand-picked from mid-September to early October. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, with the wine remaining on the skins for two weeks in wooden fermentation vats and stainless steel tanks. It is then aged for 18 months in wooden vats and used 500-liter oak barrels.
Burgenland, Austria's easternmost state and second-largest wine region, is shaped by a Pannonian climate with hot summers and cold winters. The Neusiedlersee moderates these extremes by providing humidity and retaining warmth well into autumn. This unique synergy of the lake’s eastern and western sides creates ideal conditions for the regional grape variety, thriving on both the limestone and slate soils of Leithaberg and the sandy-clay slopes of the Parndorf Plateau.
