Wine history
chevron-down

Bodegas Casa Castillo, formerly known as Julia Roche e Hijos, is a family-run estate located on the Jumilla plateau, with 200 hectares of vineyards. Founded in 1870 by French winemakers, it was acquired in 1941 by José Sánchez-Cerezo for rosemary cultivation. However, some vines were also planted. In the 1980s, the family decided to resume winemaking, restoring the old vines planted in the 1940s.

A rugged landscape where vineyards are situated on a plateau at elevations between 400 and 800 meters. Summers are extremely hot, reaching up to 40°C, and dry, while winters bring temperatures below freezing. These harsh conditions are ideal for the Monastrell grape to reveal its full complexity.
