Ideal with aromatic spiced lamb loin, a Moroccan tagine with dried fruit or Asian-inspired beef with black pepper. Dark chocolate with a hint of rose blossom also opens up exciting pairings.
Château Cos d'Estournel was founded in 1811 by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, a visionary who exported his wines to India at an early stage. With its oriental-inspired pagodas, the estate is an architectural unique in the Médoc. Under the management of Michel Reybier since 2000, Cos d'Estournel today combines state-of-the-art technology with historical heritage and an international spirit.
Cos d'Estournel impressively demonstrates the combination of power and elegance: dark berries, graphite and exotic spices unfold, carried by fine tannins. Silky yet structured on the palate, it ends in a long, complex finish.
The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified parcel by parcel. Fermentation takes place particularly gently in the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed cellar. The wine then matures for around 18 months in French barriques, a high proportion of which are new – for precision, depth and ageing potential.
