Perfect with braised veal in red wine sauce, duck confit or venison medallions. Spicy dishes such as lentil stew with bacon or a strong hard cheese such as Ossau-Iraty also go well with this wine.
Château Cos Labory owes its name to the famous ‘Colline de Cos’ and François Labory, who managed the estate until 1845. Classified as a Cinquième Cru Classé in 1855, it was acquired shortly afterwards by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel. Today it belongs to Michel Reybier, who continues the legacy with a clear vision. Located in the heart of Saint-Estèphe, Cos Labory stands for authenticity and consistency – a Médoc with character.
Cos Labory is powerful and straightforward: notes of black and red berries, pepper and fine wood spices characterise the bouquet. On the palate, structure, freshness and silky tannins combine to create a lively, balanced wine with a mineral finish.
The grapes are selected parcel by parcel and vinified with minimal intervention. The aim is precision and balance: fermentation with gentle extraction, ageing in barriques, always with a focus on clarity and terroir expression. Each vintage reinterprets the nuances of the slope.
The approximately 35-hectare vineyard is located on the north and west slopes opposite Cos d'Estournel. Deep gravel, clay and limestone soils, combined with the cool breeze from the Atlantic, give the wines freshness and energy. With an average age of 38 years, the vines are dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with small proportions of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
