Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

Ideal with fine meats and earthy flavours. Excellent with rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic or veal fillet with morel sauce; also goes well with mushroom risotto or glazed aubergines.

Wine history
chevron-down

Château de Sales has been in the family since the 16th century and is now the largest winery in Pomerol. The elegant 17th-century country estate and 47.6 hectares of vines form the setting for a tradition that has been cultivated for generations – with a clear focus on origin, continuity and drinking pleasure.

Tasting note
chevron-down

Deep purple. Fresh red and dark fruit (cherry, blackberry) on the nose, accompanied by violets, fine spices and a subtle wood note. Creamy texture on the palate, juicy freshness and silky integrated tannins; opulent yet balanced, with a long, aromatic and spicy finish.

Vinification
chevron-down

Hand-picked by plot, gentle extraction and temperature-controlled fermentation. Aged for approx. 12 months in French oak (typically 15–20% new; around 18% new in 2022), followed by fine tuning before bottling.

North-western Pomerol, mostly in one piece: fine gravel and sand with proportions of clay and iron crust (crasse de fer). These soils lend the wine juicy fruit, fragrant spice and a smooth yet firm structure.
