Pairs well with aromatic meats and earthy flavours. Ideal with veal loin with morel sauce or entrecôte with truffle jus – it accompanies rich dishes with elegance without overpowering them.
The roots of Château Gazin go back to the Knights of St John and the Order of Malta. The estate was once home to the ‘Hospital of Pomerol’, which served pilgrims on the Way of St James – the origin of the name of the second wine, L'Hospitalet de Gazin. Today, the château is run by the de Bailliencourt family, who have cultivated its style of elegance and structure for generations.
Dark ruby red. On the nose, ripe blackberry, black cherry and peony, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla, cocoa and tobacco. Full-bodied on the palate, with silky tannins and elegant tension. The finish is long, clear and harmonious – a Pomerol with depth and contour.
The grapes are harvested by hand, gently extracted and fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine is aged for around 16 months in French barriques, about half of which are new, to refine its structure and depth.
The 26 hectares of vineyards are located on the high plateau of Pomerol, with a subsoil of blue and green clay interspersed with iron oxides. These soils give the wine its dense fruit, mineral vein and unmistakable expression.
