Ideal with classic entrecôte Bordelaise, saddle of lamb with rosemary or confit duck legs. Fine mushroom dishes or a truffle risotto also highlight its finesse. A mature Comté or Saint-Nectaire cheese is an excellent choice to finish.
Château La Lagune is one of the oldest estates in the Médoc: founded in 1587 in a village by the water, it developed into a wine gem with a magnificent 18th-century chartreuse. Elevated to the ranks of the 3ème Grands Crus Classés in 1855, La Lagune has since combined history with a spirit of innovation. Under Caroline Frey, the estate focuses on biodiversity and biodynamic cultivation – thus remaining a living ambassador of the Médoc tradition.
Château La Lagune has proven itself over the years to be a Médoc classic with a seductive balance: dark berries and cassis at its core, floral nuances such as violets and peonies, accompanied by fine spice, elegant barrique notes and silky tannins. Fresh acidity and harmonious length give the wine its timeless elegance and make it enjoyable both young and after decades of ageing.
Château La Lagune is aged in French oak barrels, half of which are replaced each year. Repeated racking during ageing ensures that coarse yeasts are removed and the wine can mature finely and harmoniously on the lees.
