Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

Ideal with fine cuts of meat and delicate roasted aromas. Excellent with rack of lamb with herbs or beef fillet Rossini; also pairs beautifully with pigeon with truffle jus or fried porcini mushrooms with polenta.

Wine history
chevron-down

Château Margaux has been one of the great names of the Médoc for centuries. Since 1977, the Mentzelopoulos family has managed the estate, combining tradition with research and architectural renewal (including the cellar by Norman Foster). This attitude shapes the style: precision, longevity and an unmistakable Margaux signature.

Tasting note
chevron-down

On the nose, blackcurrant, blackberry and violet, underpinned by graphite, cedar and a subtle warmth of spice. Silky yet firm on the palate: ultra-fine tannins, cool freshness, enormous depth and a very long, clear finish with a mineral touch.

Vinification
chevron-down

Strict plot selection, gentle processing and fermentation in oak; followed by ageing for 18–24 months in new French barriques, finally frequent fining with egg white – for polish without heaviness.

Vineyards

Gravelly hillsides (‘graves’) around the château with excellent drainage over a base of clay and limestone; old vines in the best plots deliver cool, fragrant fruit and a delicate, very long-lasting structure.
