Pairs excellently with dishes that show depth and structure without being too opulent. Particularly harmonious with saddle of venison with juniper jus or braised lamb shank with thyme and polenta. Also elegant with pigeon breast or a sauce Bordelaise with entrecôte.
Château Palmer bears the name of British general Charles Palmer, who shaped the estate in the 19th century. Today, the team around the château in Margaux combines historical substance with modern, natural vineyard work. The goal: silkiness, complexity and an unmistakable signature that combines Margaux character with Palmer artistry.
On the nose, cassis, ripe plum and violet, accompanied by graphite, cedar wood and fine spices. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with silky, fine-grained tannins, clear freshness and elegant depth; very long, precise finish with dark fruit and mineral notes.
Strict selection and fermentation by plot; gentle extraction for fine tannins. Aged for around 18–20 months in French barriques with a high proportion of new wood, followed by quiet bottle ageing.
Gravelly hillsides (‘graves’) in Margaux/Cantenac on Garonne terraces, with fine gravel over clay and sand veins. These well-drained plots produce cool, fragrant fruit, silky texture and great longevity.
