With its pleasantly sweet and approachable character, this wine pairs perfectly with an afternoon platter of cold cuts and cheese, light meat dishes, grilled sausages, or Asian cuisine. It’s also a delight to enjoy on its own. Highly recommended: try it with satay skewers and peanut sauce.
Around 1300, a descendant of Knight Heinrich von Heidegg began planting vines on the steep, sunlit slopes surrounding the castle. Over the centuries, Heidegg experienced moments of glory as well as challenging periods. Nevertheless, the castle first became the Seetal Wine Castle and later one of the most renowned wine locations in the canton of Lucerne.
Today, the management of the Heidegg Winery continues the legacy of Josef Zemp. The skilled vineyard master of the State Winery left a lasting mark on viticulture at the castle hill, establishing it as a model estate for the Lucerne region.
“Dunkelrot” captivates with its clear, deep purplish-red hue in the glass. The bouquet reveals fresh aromas of strawberries and raspberries, with the distinctive character of the Pinot Noir grape taking center stage. On the palate, the wine is lively and fruity, while the finish highlights the spicy notes of Zweigelt.
The temperature-controlled fermentation on the skins and aging in stainless steel tanks allow the distinctive aromas of this unique wine to fully develop. The blend of Zweigelt and Pinot Noir is created shortly before bottling.
