With its invigorating freshness, this wine is an excellent choice as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with vegetable dishes, grilled fish, Asian cuisine, asparagus, and poultry.
Around the year 1300, a descendant of Knight Heinrich von Heidegg began planting vines on the steep, sun-drenched slopes surrounding the castle. Over the centuries, Heidegg experienced moments of great splendor as well as challenging times. Despite this, the castle became the Seetal Wine Castle and later one of the most renowned wine locations in the canton of Lucerne.
The current management of the Heidegg Winery continues the legacy of Josef Zemp. The respected and skilled vineyard master of the State Winery left a lasting mark on viticulture at the castle hill, turning it into a model for winemaking across the Lucerne region.
This white wine shines a straw-yellow color in the glass, with subtle reddish hues. Its aroma reveals notes of citrus fruits, melon, and peach, with the Riesling grape’s characteristic profile taking center stage. On the palate, it delights with a fresh, fruity, and robust texture. The gentle acidity is perfectly balanced. Despite its freshness, the wine feels full-bodied and broad, finishing with a long-lasting aftertaste.
The fully ripe grapes are carefully hand-harvested. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperatures of 16–18 degrees Celsius to preserve the freshness and aromas of the grapes. The wine matures separately in stainless steel tanks before the blending is carried out a few weeks prior to bottling. The wine is released for sale in the spring of the following year and is ready to enjoy immediately.
The vines for this cuvée flourish on the sunlit slopes below Schloss Heidegg.
