In the picturesque setting of Cazzano di Tramigna, near the charming town of Soave, the story of the Bennati family began in 1870. Antonio Bennati, known as "Toni Recioto" – inspired by the renowned straw wine from the Verona region – laid the foundation for a winemaking tradition that continues to thrive today. With dedication and passion, he devoted himself to viticulture, selling his refined wines in distinctive straw-covered bottles.
Following the challenges of the First World War, Antonio and his son Annibale founded the Cantine Bennati winery in 1920. Today, in its fourth generation, the winery seamlessly combines tradition and innovation. For the winemakers, crafting wine is a journey that tells stories, stirs emotions, and transports people to special places. With their dedicated team, they create wines that leave lasting impressions and offer timeless moments.
Intense red with garnet nuances. On the nose, the Gardetta Rosso del Veneto impresses with notes of wild berries and vanilla. On the palate, this wine is structured, evoking ripe plums, cocoa, and tobacco. Very soft tannins, with a silky and long finish.
After the harvest, most of the grapes are destemmed and pressed. During the maceration fermentation, frequent "délestage" is performed to extract aromatic components from the grape skins, giving the wine distinct notes of red fruits.
A small portion of the grapes is dried in crates until January, a process known as "appassimento." These grapes are then also vinified. Finally, the two base wines are blended and aged in wooden barrels.
The wine is only partially filtered to better showcase the organoleptic qualities of the grape varieties used. Any slight sediment is a natural testament to the wine's artisanal production.
The vineyards feature diverse soils, predominantly clay-rich and sandy with minimal stone content.
