Latus Lagrein is ideal with hearty dishes: whether juicy beef, game such as venison or roe deer, or mature cheeses with character. It also accompanies traditional dishes such as goulash, bacon or polenta with mushrooms with depth and spice. Best served slightly chilled to reveal its full potential.
The Ritterhof winery is located directly on the South Tyrolean Wine Road and is also one of the region's top producers in terms of quality. It stands for first-class wines from South Tyrol and attaches great importance to treating nature with respect.
Deep ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals delicate aromas of wild berries and chocolate, accompanied by a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the wine is powerful and full-bodied, with a velvety texture, good balance and a long, harmonious finish.
The carefully selected grapes are fermented for around 12 days at a constant temperature of 28°C after a short maceration period. The wine is then aged for 12 months in French barriques and large wooden barrels.
The Lagrein vines, some of which are over 45 years old, thrive in Gries near Bolzano and in Auer in the South Tyrolean lowlands. Carefully selected plots with sandy, gravelly soils between 220 and 300 metres above sea level provide the ideal climatic conditions for optimal ripening.
