Ideal with aromatic spiced lamb loin, a Moroccan tagine with dried fruit or Asian-inspired beef with black pepper. Dark chocolate with a hint of rose blossom also opens up exciting pairings.
Château Cos d'Estournel was founded in 1811 by Louis Gaspard d'Estournel, a pioneer who brought his wines to India at an early stage. The striking pagodas give the estate an exotic appearance that is unique in the Médoc. Michel Reybier has been running the château since 2000, combining contemporary innovation with its rich historical heritage and global appeal.
Les Pagodes de Cos is a characterful second wine with a clear Saint-Estèphe signature: dark berries, nuances of spices and fine minerality. On the palate, it combines structure with elegance, appearing more accessible than the Grand Vin, yet retaining power, freshness and a long, harmonious finish.
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected by plot. Vinification takes place in the modern, gravity-fed cellar at Cos d'Estournel, using particularly gentle methods. Les Pagodes de Cos is then aged in French barriques, mostly with a lower proportion of new wood than the Grand Vin, in order to preserve fruit and elegance.
