The Festive One

Louis Roederer Thèophile Champagne Brut

Champagne
Théophile doesn’t wait for a special occasion – he brings it with him straight away. Delicate bubbles, bright fruit and a creamy mouthfeel transform an aperitif, a meal or a spontaneous toast into something special. A champagne that fosters good cheer without turning it into a ceremony.

Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

A versatile companion from aperitif through to main course. Particularly lovely with oysters, prawn cocktail, salmon sashimi or pan-fried pike-perch with lemon butter. Also an excellent choice with white poultry or mild soft cheeses.

Wine history
chevron-down

Louis Roederer was founded in Reims in 1776 and remains one of the few major Champagne houses that is still independently family-owned. Ever since Louis Roederer took over the reins in 1833, the house’s own vineyards have formed the foundation of the business. Théophile was created as a tribute to the company’s founder, Théophile Louis Roederer, and embodies the house’s signature style in a particularly approachable cuvée. It blends tradition, precision and the characteristic elegance of Champagne into an authentic expression of the house.

Tasting note
chevron-down

Pale golden yellow with a fine, persistent perlage. On the nose, aromas of white flowers, pear, apple and citrus fruits unfold, complemented by subtle notes of brioche and yeast. On the palate, the champagne is fresh and lively, with a creamy texture, harmonious fruit and an elegant, mineral finish.

Vinification
chevron-down

The cuvée blends wines from several vintages and, following traditional bottle fermentation, matures on the lees for at least two years. After disgorgement, the champagne is given a moderate dosage and rests for several more months before being released for sale.

Vineyards

The grapes come from selected vineyards in Champagne. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grow predominantly on chalky soils in the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs, whilst Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne brings fruitiness and balance to the cuvée.
