The Heinrich winery in Burgenland is devoted to producing wines that authentically reflect their origin and the essence of their environment. Since 2006, the focus has been on cultivating vibrant soils and maintaining a balanced, biodynamic ecosystem. Emphasizing harmony between nature and time, the winemaking process involves minimal intervention. The wines ferment naturally, mature on their lees in used wooden barrels, and develop their unique aromatic character. The goal is to craft authentic, profound wines that bring nature's diversity to life.
A precise bouquet featuring red and black cherries, blueberries, lilies, cedarwood, and tobacco, complemented by delicate smoky nuances. On the palate, the wine displays an elegant structure, powerful balance, and remarkable complexity with beautifully layered nuances.
The grapes are hand-picked between mid-September and early October. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, with the wine spending three weeks on the skins in wooden fermentation vats. It is then gently pressed using a basket press and aged for 21 months in used 500-liter oak barrels.
Burgenland, Austria’s easternmost state and second-largest wine region, offers ideal conditions for viticulture thanks to its Pannonian climate with hot summers and cold winters. Lake Neusiedl moderates these extremes, providing humidity and retaining warmth well into autumn. The soils range from limestone and slate-rich areas near the Leitha Mountains to sandy-clay slopes around Gols, imparting unique characteristics to the wines. The mesoclimate near the northern tip of Lake Neusiedl is reflected in the wines, contributing to their complexity and depth.
