Culinary recommendation
chevron-down

Ideal with fine cuts of meat and subtle roasted aromas. Particularly suitable with rack of lamb with herbs or beef fillet (classically with gravy and root vegetables); also harmonises with pigeon and truffle gravy.

Wine history
chevron-down

Château Margaux has been one of the icons of the Médoc for centuries. Since 1977, the Mentzelopoulos family has been shaping its course: radical selection, research and architectural renewal – right down to the cellar designed by Norman Foster. This combination of tradition and vision has resulted in a style that combines elegance, depth and longevity.

Tasting note
chevron-down

Fine, cool bouquet with cassis, violets and cedar wood; accompanied by graphite and a hint of spice. Silky and firm on the palate: very fine-grained tannins, fresh acidity, clear contours and a long, mineral finish.

Vinification
chevron-down

Strict plot selection and gentle extraction; fermentation in wood and/or temperature-controlled containers. Maturation for around 18–24 months in French barriques, with a high proportion of new wood, followed by fine polishing.

2ème Vin de Margaux
Vineyards
chevron-down

Gravelly hillsides (‘graves’) around the château with excellent drainage over clay and limestone subsoil; old vines in core parcels such as the Enclos provide cool, fragrant fruit and a finely structured, long-lasting structure.
