In 1559, Blaise Junod, then Governor of Valangin, initiated the construction of Château d’Auvernier. In 1603, the estate was acquired by Pierre Chambrier, a prominent figure of his time. The purchase also included a vineyard of 19 fossuriers (approximately 7 hectares), which remains the centerpiece of the property to this day.
For more than 400 years, Château d’Auvernier has been owned by the same family. During this time, the winery has produced exceptional wines, highly regarded both nationally and internationally. Despite a rich history shaped by influential figures such as military leaders, regents, and statesmen, winemaking remains the soul and purpose of the estate.
A ruby-red Pinot Noir with subtle hints of red berries and hazelnuts. It impresses with its finesse and depth. Some enjoy it young, bold, and spirited, while others prefer it aged, when it becomes gentler, more complex, and harmonious.
The grapes are handpicked between late September and early October. After destemming, they are lightly or not at all crushed. They then undergo maceration for three to five days at 10°C, followed by fermentation lasting about ten days at temperatures ranging from 20 to 35°C. The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks.
A soil with low to high limestone content and a small to moderate proportion of clay.
