A versatile wine that adds a special touch to numerous dishes: ideal with cheese and meat platters, classic Swiss cuisine and hearty meat and pasta dishes.
‘Aagne’ means ‘own’ in the local dialect – and that's exactly what characterises these wines: self-assured, unmistakable and firmly rooted in their origins.
In Schaffhausen's Klettgau region, protected by the Black Forest and nestled in the foothills of the Jura mountains, the conditions are ideal for winegrowing: calcareous soils interspersed with loam and clay, and a mild, dry climate. The basis of everything we do is a passion for the vine – combined with a commitment to making the origin tangible and the quality perceptible.
A wine with character and depth: in the glass, it displays an intense ruby red colour. The nose reveals ripe, complex notes of dark berries and dried fruit, complemented by a delicate spiciness and subtle toasted aromas. Powerful and full-bodied on the palate, with a smooth texture, elegant tannins and a long, dense finish.
Consistent yield control and late harvesting form the basis for this characterful wine. After maceration, intensive, temperature-controlled fermentation with malolactic fermentation takes place. The wine is aged discreetly in used barriques for 3 to 6 months. After careful filtration, the wine is bottled after 8 to 10 months.
