Pairs perfectly with red meat and grilled dishes. However, it also complements fish wonderfully, especially for those who prefer red wine over white. Grilled trout and a Spiez Pinot Noir make an excellent match.
The Spiez vineyard is one of the highest-altitude winegrowing regions north of the Alps. In 1927, Hans Barben united a group of wine enthusiasts who began cultivating Riesling-Sylvaner the following year. Shortly afterward, the variety was replaced by Chasselas, but the Spiez soil proved unsuitable. The vineyard returned to Riesling-Sylvaner. This dedicated group formed an association focused on expanding the vineyard. In 1942, the association transformed into a cooperative, laying the foundation for the preservation and future growth of winemaking in Spiez.
Aromas of red berries, pepper, cloves, and violets define this wine. On the palate, it reveals a soft, elegant fullness with remarkable presence and sophistication. The moderate length is enhanced by aging in oak barrels, which provide strength, complexity, deep color, and excellent aging potential.
Meticulous selection of grapes, precise handpicking, and gentle processing with minimal mechanical impact. Fermented in small containers and aged for 15 months in 3000-liter wooden barrels.
The grapes are cultivated in vineyards with low yields and significant oenological potential.
