Served at cool room temperature, it unfolds its full class with spicy and savoury dishes – from juicy lamb cutlets with herb crust to aromatic pasta all'arrabbiata and strong Grisons mountain cheese.
Trais Cotschens (Rhaeto-Romanic) means three reds.
In Zizers, on a sun-drenched Rüfischutt cone, Philipp Grendelmeier cultivates around six hectares of vines with a sure instinct – ten varieties, distinctive and versatile. The dry climate, proximity to the mountains and a touch of foehn wind give each wine its own signature. Toxin-free cultivation, care and passion characterise everything – from Riesling-Sylvaner to Pinot Noir. These wines are ambassadors for the Bündner Herrschaft region, proving that honest quality belongs in the glass.
Deep dark in the glass, this Trais Cotschens beguiles with rich blackberry and wild cherry notes, a velvety mouthfeel and a hint of exoticism in the heart of Pinot country. Merlot provides the strong backbone, Cabernet Dorsa the dense colour and berry depth, Zweigelt the spicy fullness – a trio that doesn't just harmonise, but shines.
The wine is aged for twelve months in new and used barrique barrels.
Young vines up to 20 years old in the ‘Feld’ and ‘Säss’ vineyards with calcareous, weathered Graubünden slate soil.
