A wine that pairs exceptionally well with cold cuts, grilled fish, vegetables, and terrines.
The Heinrich winery in Burgenland is dedicated to crafting wines that authentically reflect their origin and terroir. Since 2006, the focus has been on nurturing vibrant soils and maintaining a balanced, biodynamic ecosystem. Their philosophy emphasizes harmony between nature and time: minimal intervention in the cellar, spontaneous fermentation, and extended aging on lees in used oak barrels. This allows the wines to develop their unique aromatic character. The aim is to produce authentic, characterful wines that bring the richness of nature to life.
An enticing bouquet of sour cherries, lingonberries, fresh plums, tobacco, and a touch of pepper. On the palate, the wine reveals a velvety texture, well-defined structure, and ripe, well-integrated tannins. Its juicy character and smooth flow make it exceptionally inviting.
The grapes are hand-picked between early and mid-September. Fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the wine remains on the skins for two weeks in both wooden fermentation vats and stainless steel tanks. It is then aged for 13 months in wooden vats and 500-liter oak barrels.
Burgenland, Austria's easternmost state and second-largest wine-growing region, is characterized by its Pannonian climate with hot summers and cold winters. Lake Neusiedl moderates these extremes by providing humidity and storing warmth well into autumn. This balance between the lake’s eastern and western sides creates ideal conditions for local grape varieties, thriving on the limestone and slate soils of Leithaberg as well as the sandy-clay slopes of the Parndorf Plateau.
